This poplar tree is a lasting symbol of the recovery of post-war Hiroshima. While it was blown over in Typhoon 18 in 2004, new branches began to grow, becoming the third generation of this tree.
The trunk of this tree leans in the direction of the hypocenter and bears the marks of a fire that broke out in the area at the time of the atomic bombing.
Gangi are steps that were once used as docks for boats. Today, there are approximately 400 gangi remaining in the former Hiroshima City area
